A shrimp trawler heads out the Intracoastal Waterway
Swansboro, the "Friendly City by the Sea" is a waterfront community located at the mouth of the White Oak River, where the river joins the Intracoastal Waterway. It is the town nearest Hammocks Beach State Park and beautiful Bear Island.

Founded in 1783, Swansboro has a historic downtown district overlooking the water and a beautiful harbor along the Intracoastal Waterway. It is also only three miles from the Croatan National Forest. It sustains a great blend of working watermen, small-town character & charm, and the unique heritage of a North Carolina colonial port.
