With more than 300 years of history, the small town of Beaufort certainly has more than its fair share of ghost stories, and visitors can explore these legends in-depth with the Beaufort Ghost Walk. Spearheaded by the Port City Tour Company, this exciting evening expedition leads patrons on a spooky stroll about town, where seemingly every ancient building and dark street corner has its own unique tale.

Tour-goers will rendezvous with a costumed pirate guide on the grounds of the central downtown Inlet Inn, and will start exploring from this launching point. Through 8-10 blocks of somewhat brisk walking, your guide will regale an assortment of stories that trickle through Beaufort’s 300+ year history, and which are filled with esteemed privateers and pirates, local legends, and more. Visitors will veer past a number of local historic sites and homes, including an ancient graveyard or two, and will even hear about some of the more recent unexplained encounters that occurred in the heart of town. (Be sure and bring a camera for potentially ghostly photos at the Old Burial Ground.) Fun for history fans and thrill seekers alike, the Beaufort Ghost Walk adds a spooky layer to the story behind the third oldest town in North Carolina.
