Farm to shuck – Ghost Fleet Oyster Co. offers you a different type of fishing! Step into the world of commercial fishing and take an adventure exploring North Carolina’s oyster farming. This fishing adventure takes you on a journey from spat to shuck. You’ll learn about sustainable farming practices and the role oysters play in water quality. While the waters are open, Captain Cody Faison and his crew will handpick your harvest. Join the captain in Surf City and have a wonderful time on the water!
The boat you’ll use for fishing is a restored 20’ Grunman pontoon. It can carry up to 6 guests and is wheelchair-accessible. It runs on a 70 HP Yamaha engine and has all the navigation electronics needed for an efficient and safe trip. There’s a multimedia system you can use and a first mate may join your trip.
You and Captain Cody will stay inshore. Kids are more than welcome to join aboard, so bring them as well and enjoy your oyster collecting experience together. Just bear in mind that smoking isn’t allowed during the trip.
The captain will provide all the needed equipment, crackers, Gatorade, and water. Also, the crew follows all sanitation rules and requirements for shellfish for both harvest and consumption.
