Tips and Tricks to get the very best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Relax Down East in this home near Beaufort & Cape Lookout has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
