Rental booking tips:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Gone With The Waves, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
