Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation rental in Pine Knoll Shores:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceans #11, Oceanside Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
