Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best vacation home:

  • Start by having your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 5 BR OCEANFRONT Duplex with gorgeous views! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your group.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
