Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Crystal Coast area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect vacation home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Double Up in Downtown New Bern! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is right for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
