Tricks and tips to get the perfect Crystal Coast rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Four townhomes - heart of the city - elevator, balconies, fast WiFi, central AC has 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast attraction you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
