Tricks and tips to get the perfect Pine Knoll Shores vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best vacation home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Serenity Shores. Gorgeous, Oceanfront Home with a Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
