Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are high season in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
