Strategies to get the best Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beachfront Condo, Amazing Ocean & Sound Views, 3rd Floor Southwinds, 2 Pools! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Crystal Coast destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
