Tips to get the perfect Crystal Coast rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserve your Crystal Coast vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking a perfect Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Ocean Reef 18-B, Large 4BR Almost Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
