How to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Crystal Coast vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing the best vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • To start, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Blondie East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
