Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cordelia, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
