Strategies to get the perfect Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.

How to select the best rental in Atlantic Beach:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Quiet and quaint beach home with easy walking access to the ocean and sound side has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
