Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best vacation rental:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Beach Escape, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
