Dive into an Outer Banks staple that has been making appearances on local menus and dinner tables for generations with this annual event that is celebrating its 18th year in 2024. The Annual Crab Cake Cook-off is a competition of acclaimed and volunteer local chefs, who serve their best crab cakes to the delight of the hungry crowd. With lots of fresh fare to go around, this fundraiser is a delicious way to sample the heart of the Beaufort cuisine scene.

The Annual Crab Cake Cook-off raises funds for the North Carolina Maritime Museum in downtown Beaufort, and the event is open to current and new museum members alike. During the evening event, four guest chefs will whip up their very best crab cakes for attendees, who will then taste the different delicacies and vote on their favorites. No crab cake dinner is complete without a few southern side dishes, and the event will feature a cole slaw taste-off as well for veggie lovers. Tickets are available online before the event at the museum’s website, or in the museum’s gift store. With lots of great home cooking and a little local flavor, the Annual Crab Cake Cook-off is an event that is simply sumptuous.
