Boating Skills Virtual Trainer

Test your navigation skills on the open water without ever stepping off of dry land with this unique experience that coincides with the 45^th Annual Wooden Boat Show. The Boating Skills Virtual Trainer is a unique activity that will put would-be mariners to the test by allowing them to virtually maneuver a Boston Whaler Dauntless 200 while remaining in the heart of downtown Beaufort.

The event stems from a partnership between the Fort Macon Sail & Power Squadron and the North Carolina Maritime Museum, and is a unique opportunity for seasoned mariners and boating newcomers alike to see how they do behind the wheel. Mimicking a lake where there are no real-life risks, mariners will test their ability to approach boats at meetings, crossings, and in other situations where a little deft skill comes in handy. The event is free to anyone who wants to take a turn at the wheel, and the demonstration takes place on multiple afternoons throughout the festival.
