The Crystal Coast has always been known for its exceptional cuisine and seafood, and newcomers may be surprised to discover that this also includes caviar! Visitors can get a first-hand look (and taste) of this local delicacy with the seasonal Caviar Farm Tour and Tasting. Held at Marshallberg Farm in the barely inland Down East region of Carteret County, this unique event is sure to be a crowd pleaser with foodies and seafood fans of all varieties.

Marshallberg Farm is the largest producer of Russian Sturgeon caviar in the country, and this unique operation with small town roots has the capacity to produce up to three tons of caviar every year. Their facilities in the Down East area of the Crystal Coast will open to the public during this special event, and attendees will enjoy a guided walk through 40 indoor recirculating aquaculture tanks that are filled with sturgeon, and which span some 54,000 square feet of building space area. After the tour, attendees will be treated to a caviar and smoked sturgeon tasting, as well as the chance to purchase some tasty souvenirs to enjoy at home. With so much to sample, this unique tour is a great way to explore all the flavors of the Crystal Coast.
