Core Sound Run

Embark on an active exploration of Harkers Island while taking in miles of views along the way at the annual Core Sound Run in the Down East region of the Crystal Coast. With options to tackle a 10K, 5K, or a one mile fun run, this event can cater to visitors of all ages and abilities, and is a fun and engaging opportunity to see how charming this corner of the Crystal Coast can be.

The event takes place in the heart of Harkers Island, which is a small-town community on the edge of the sound waters that is renowned for its quiet and enticing waterfront charm. Serving as a beautiful place to run, walk, or stroll, the Core Sound Run begins and ends “at the end of the road” with a course that appropriately follows the scenic borders of the Core Sound. Long-sleeved T-shirts are provided to all 5k and 10k participants, and prizes will be given to overall winners in varying age groups for both of these races as well. Open to everyone who loves a little outdoor exploration, the Core Sound Run is an engaging way to enjoy an active adventure in one of the Crystal Coast’s most scenic communities.
