Most all of the activities featured at the annual Museum Day center on life at the water, and visitors will enjoy a wealth of new information and discoveries, in addition to the regular assortment of artifacts, displays, and features that the museum is renowned for. The Museum Day takes place at Gallants Channel, which is an extension of the museum itself, and offers lots of things to do such as fishing with a cane pole in the neighboring waters, joining in an assortment of games, listening to live music, or just relaxing and enjoying the waterfront view. All activities and entertainment is free to the public, and membership to the North Carolina Maritime Museum will be available on-site.
