Get a jump start on burning off all those excess Thanksgiving Day calories with this scenic run, jog, or walk that takes place along some of the prettiest regions of Pine Knoll Shores. The annual Pine Knoll Shores Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is a fun and free celebration that is open to vacationers and locals alike, and which features plenty of ways to enjoy the local scenery while enjoying a little community spirit.

The 3.1 mile walk, run, or jog begins at the McNeil Park, which is situated off of Oakleaf Drive, on the edge of the Bogue Sound. The trot officially begins at around 9 a.m., when the local mayor starts the race, and folks are welcome to go at their own pace through the ensuing winding and pretty course. Along the way, participants will follow the borders of the sound waters along Oakleaf Drive, the Crystal Coast Country Club, and Cypress Drive until they reach the finish line where coffee, donuts, and hot chocolate will all be waiting. Occurring rain or shine, this fun and family-friendly event is a great way for visitors and locals to get out and enjoy a little active fun before the big Thanksgiving feast.
