How to get the best vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Crystal Coast vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfect Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 2nd Floor in Resort w\/Direct Beach Access + Free WiFi, Balcony, Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
