Tips to get the very best rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beachy Haven
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
