Strategies for getting the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental:

  • Start by having your group select the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Bright Condo with WiFi, W\/D, Screened Porch & Community Pool\/Tennis\/Day Dock has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
