Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Family-Friendly Beach Escape – 2BR Condo with Resort Amenities has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
