Tricks and tips to get the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Newly renovated condo, indoor & outdoor pools, 3min walk from beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
