How to book the best vacation property experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose and book yourvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Beach Bunker-Renovated Vintage Coastal Retreat with Rooftop Deck & Golf Cart has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
