Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront available for the holidays! Private Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
