During the annual Turkey Trot, participants can walk, run, or strut for a 5k or 1-mile trek on a course through the beautiful Star Hill area of Cape Carteret. The Turkey Trot is not a timed event – just a fun excuse for folks to get together and get active before the Thanksgiving Day feasting begins. Costumes are enthusiastically encouraged, with prizes for the best-dressed flock of participants. Online registration is available in the days and weeks leading up to the Thanksgiving morning event, and the cost to join in the fun is $30 for the 5K race, and $25 for the 1-mile race. With a stunning setting in the barely-inland town of Cape Carteret, and an easy-going atmosphere that is miles of fun, the Turkey Trot is a spirited way to get a jump start on the Thanksgiving festivities.
