Our top Crystal Coast rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental & When to go:

  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful Corner Oceanfront 3 Bedroom 2 Bath Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
