Strategies to get the optimal Crystal Coast vacation property experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserve your Crystal Coast vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and choosing the bestvacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sassy Seagull West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
