Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your Crystal Coast rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • First, have your family select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beach Haven, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, contact the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you crave, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
