Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Crystal Coast restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ward Creek Cottage Down East has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
