Strategies to get the perfect Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in New Bern. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Our Getaway Two has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
