Tips to get the optimal Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the right Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Start by having your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Charming 2 BR Cottage Near Downtown New Bern w 2.5 BA has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
