Finding the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Near New Bern Waterfront has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
