Vacation rental home tips:

Get the best rental value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose and book the perfectrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Unique 2 Bedroom Condo
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
