Tips and Tricks to get the best Crystal Coast rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Boho Bungalow has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
