Tips and Tricks to get the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Crystal Coast attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Waterfront Charming RV located on the Neuse River - “Riverside Oasis” has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
