Our top Rental home tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your Crystal Coast rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Spacious Family Home with Outdoor Space. One mile to downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If there's a specific Crystal Coast destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
