Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Waterfront Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
