Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 5 Bedroom, Oceanfront Home with Elevator on Ocean Ridge in Atlantic Beach, NC (The Amadeus) has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
