How to find the best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Crystal Coast vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking yourrental home:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. UPDATED Sea-renity WEST near boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
