Our top Rental booking tips:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the best rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Loving Life - Oceanfront-Secluded-beautiful! Booking long-term stays this winter has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
