THINGS TO DO:

Emerald Isle is bicycle-friendly with bicycle paths along the major roads. (We supply a few bicycles but at times the tires may be slack) Bicycle or walk to the Emerald Plant Shopping 2.5 miles away. You can walk effortlessly to the pier via the beach (about 2 miles away). Emerald Plant. Shopping, Food Lion or Publix, water park, cinema, shopping, mini-golf, eateries, canoe and kayak units and surf shop are only 2-3 miles away. You'll often find phenomenal tidal pools on our beach during low tide. Bring flashlights to look for crabs at nighttime and a pair of binoculars to watch the dolphins or birdwatch. Fishing: The Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is a 2-mile walk on the beach to right. Surf fishing is fashionable especially when the beaches are peaceful. Tricks and tips to get the very best rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Short walk to ocean and sound! FREE use of golf cart! Several decks & patio! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
