The town of Beaufort-by-the-Sea has been a favorite for centuries. From long-ago sailors who dropped anchor in Beaufort Inlet after a wearying voyage, to tourists from near and far who long to experience the modest-town vibe of this southern town, to Blackbeard himself, who famously hung out in these parts after pillaging and treasure seeking on the open sea.

This cozy home on Gordon Street, Trails End, is in keeping with the overall appeal of historic Beaufort, with 3 bedrooms, and 1.5 baths; this home has plenty of room to sleep the whole family! Unwind on the porch while sipping your coffee and soaking up the pretty surroundings.

Stroll along Taylor’s Creek, and watch for ferry boats, dolphins, and wild horses across the waterway, visit downtown's stores and art galleries, and savor the many delicious eateries, bars and cafes. Life couldn’t be more handsome when you happen to be in Beaufort!

Tricks and tips to get the best Crystal Coast rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Beaufort. To get the best value, change your family's Crystal Coast trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Quaint Cottage in Beaufort, NC (Trails End) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
