Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Crystal Coast vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book your Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Mermaid Cottage in Beau Coast Neighborhood Beaufort, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
