Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 3 Bed\/2.5 Bath 1450 sq ft with Large Open Floor Plan, 3 Min Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
