How to book the best vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Summer Winds A-402, Oceanfront Condo, in Indian Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
